The UofA v UCLA game is at 9:30pm local? Are you kidding, schedulers? This is the type of scheduling that keeps the #Pac12AfterDark hashtag going strong.

UofA vs. Oregon is at 9pm tonight. Aw, it's almost not a ridiculous tip-off time! Adorable!

SMU grabbed a 6 seed! One of the very few times I can root for the alma mater.

If anyone is interested, I'm about halfway through writing up a Mascot Fight bracket, including the First Four. I'm going to post it on my FB page, but if there's some interest, I'll post it here as well.

yall I HIGHLY suggest watching the latest Pretty Good This is why I am patient with Jon Bois pieces even though they are increasingly far and few between. Can't believe SB Nation's letting him get this weird nowadays. I would kill for more Breaking Madden but I see how that met its logical conclusion.

I feel like we need some sort of humorous stakes for our pick 'em pool this year. First thought is that the winner can choose what avatar or username other people in the pool have, for a month or week after. I'll try and fill one out tonight or tomorrow. In the office pool at the Office I No Longer Work At But Evidently Still Gamble With, I picked Kentucky vs. Duke in the final, with Kentucky winning, acknowledging that we truly live in the darkest timeline.

I thought the darkest timeline was always Duke. When I ran the office pools (way too busy this year, someone else has taken up the burden) I always made sure to highlight which spineless weakling(s) chose Duke. You just don't choose Duke if you have a conscience. It's against the sportsmanship of it all.

You just don't choose Duke if you have a conscience. It's against the sportsmanship of it all. This is definitely correct. Because of the way elections and sporting events have been going lately, I did actually fill out a bracket with Duke winning. Because, at this point, that would feel consistent. I am definitely not submitting that one for the office pool, though. Picking Arizona to win would earn you fewer dirty looks than picking Duke.

So my alma mater backed up the money truck and poured $21 million over 7 years onto Cal coach Cuonzo Martin. I'm a bit wary about giving that much cash to a guy who in 8 years of being a head coach, has only two NCAA tourney appearances and one Sweet 16 run to show for it. But he is a good coach and a great recruiter, and given that Mizzou basketball has been a nuclear waste site for the last three years, things couldn't get any worse (at least, for all of Kim Anderson's basketball coaching sins, he was honest, so I'm not worried about anyone uncovering any potential violations). To be honest, I'm OK if it takes a few years for us to go dancing again. At this point, being good enough to make the NIT would be just fine.

And a rousing sweet sixteen run it was! -Thrill as he wins a play-in game over an Iowa team whose coach spent the whole week dealing with his son's cancer diagnosis! -Gasp as he beats a UMass coming off an 8 point loss to GW in the A-10 quarterfinals! -Be amazed as he knocks off a true blue blood #14 MERCER!!!

I think it's 50-50 the kid plays college hoops at all at this point.

Ha ha ha ha! A lot of Tucson residents on my Twitter feed are laughing over Wisconsin bouncing another school for a change.
Additionally: My "Darkest Timeline" bracket with Duke winning is still doing pretty good! Though, hoping South Carolina can implode that one tomorrow.

You'd think they'd be worried about St Mary's tonight... I haven't seen any chatter about St Mary's yet. I'm sure it will come. But, Arizona was bounced by Wisconsin two years in a row. My friends are feeling happy (for now) that it wasn't them this time.

My TI/AVC bracket continues to tank hard (Wifemate is up there tied for third), and my alternate bracket for a prize from my old realtor has been tanking since Villanova lost.
