While the relationship isn’t canon, Zuke shared some art that appeared to show support for the ship, which pissed off select fans of Peridot and Amethyst (or “Amedot”), saying she was showing favortism for one ship over another.

They also accused her, a gay woman, of “queer baiting.” In some circles that means teasing queer fans with a possible ship that never comes to fruition, in others it’s bringing up a character’s sexual orientation to encourage homophobic attacks against them. (Note: Steven Universe is a show with one of the most diverse and inclusive cast of characters on television and consistently includes gay themes).

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was now what I'm with isn't it and what's it seems weird and scary to me.

I find a lot of fandom and "geek culture" insufferable, but man, the toxicity seems to be reaching ridiculous levels lately.

Eh, I don't interact with the SU fans outside of TIF, and it's worked for me so far.

Seems like everytime I'm about ready to give this show a shot something happens that makes me wait a while.

Most of the serious Steven Universe chat happens in the shoutbox. We talk about our feelings, and how Steven Universe affects said feelings, and speculate on the true meaning of fusion, and the sad feelings, and the happy feelings, and what the corrupting light was, and our feelings, and then we act all tough like we weren't doing all that feeling over a Tv show.

Maybe it's because I'm at the beginning of season 3 (yup, I got through season 2 that quickly), but I felt like maybe Peridot and Steve might end up together. Don't let me know either way, but it was just a thought I had.

The last ep I saw was Steven's Birthday episode, where Connie finds out he may not age the same as her.

I am all caught up with Steven Universe and his adventures! Season 4 hasn't been doing it for me thus far. The most recent episode has given me some hope but the three episodes that were more or less filler was not a very auspicious way to start off a season of television. I had a similar complaint about season 3 since there was a looooooong chunk in the middle that was devoid of Crystal Gems and there was a Lars episode followed directly by a Kevin episode and I nearly quit the show for good. I'm an old with limited time to spend of amusements, cut the crap Steven Universe and just get to the good stuff.

This was preferable to this past week's episode.

Isn't that why everyone watches this show?  I mean some of the filler episodes are okay but no one prefers them to a good ol' gem-specific crying, fighting, and singing combo.  And a filler episode that's 10 minutes of Mister Smiley and his mopey British comedy partner?  No one wants that.

The gem-specific crying, fighting, and singing are important, yes. Still, I see it like Person of Interest. The person of the week episodes weren't always the most fun, but the ethos of the series about warring megapowerful artificial intelligences was that people matter.

The whole reason Steven Universe exists is because Rose and others believed that people matter, and they fought so that Sour Cream can become a DJ, and Ronaldo can film poorly edited documentaries. Whenever Steven goes into the world and inserts himself into stupid human affairs, somewhere deep inside Rose is doing a celebratory fist pump and exclaiming that this is all amazing and this is exactly what she wanted for Steven.

Also, viewers need time to speculate furiously and develop new fan-theories after Cartoon Network aired pretty much all of Season 3 in a month. 

I like the big stakes stuff as much as anybody, but I also love the world SU has created. Any excuse to hang out there for 11 minutes and see little details and backstories get fleshed out is worth it for me. Especially when we know the fireworks factory is right around the corner and could erupt at any moment.

I didn't get around to watching last week's ep until today but this is the SU I know and like because I really like when Pearl tries to people. Less emotionally involved with her quest to find a big beautiful pink haired lady/rock but there's always Grape Sis.

I saw this on Twitter and thought it was 10/10 art.
