I'm really glad they did an episode about how even your most obnoxious and/or racist family members really care about you in the end.
Also CARL IS IN THE EPISODE 10/10

I liked it too, mostly for just being timely though a lot more people than I thought reacted badly to Andy's introduction because the show is pretty much their safe space.

That was a good bomb, but the episode where Greg and Steven are in the Human Zoo seemed kind of like pointless filler.

That was a good bomb, but the episode where Greg and Steven are in the Human Zoo seemed kind of like pointless filler. That episode was probably the weakest of the bunch, but I really liked the bomb and taken as a whole, flows very well narratively. Plus, the word "Choosen" is pure hilarity.

*upon finishing the newest Steven Bomb* (Oh, by the way, yeah, there's a new Steven Bomb, because worst schedule ever.) Also, somewhat related, Damn. It. Lars. I appreciated the shift from "offputtingly obnoxious" to "relatably obnoxious", I think it's cool you know how to bake, and I even relate to you freezing out of sheer pants-shitting terror. But come on man! Next episode on May 31st. I'll try not to die waiting for the resolution of this cliffhanger.

I'm done. As of "Gemcation," the show they want to make and the show I want to watch are officially two different things now. It's nobody's fault, there's no hard feelings, but I'm getting off this train now. Don't worry, it'll be four years before the next episode anyway.

Steven Universe is still really popular but this seems to be a growing sentiment among people, myself included. They really hung a lampshade on it in the last episode, when Garnet gears up to give Steven a massive lore dump/history lesson and he cuts her off, completely uninterested, because he's worried about Connie being mad at him. The only way they could have been clearer is if Rebecca Sugar herself appeared onscreen and said "We, the creators of Steven Universe, simply aren't interested in the aspects of the show that you, @patrickbatman , are interested in, and you need to realize that you're waiting for a payoff that we are never going to deliver, because that isn't the show we want to make." I personally feel like the show's just losing its handle in terms of juggling the plot-heavy/slice-of-life elements, and combined with the scheduling mishaps it just feels like a slog, man. Like, this last bomb highlighted huge problems going forward. Lars is stuck in space and this barely gets confronted. Instead we focus on Steven's fight with Connie and that just felt hastily written and confusing? I've been having issues with the show's pacing since the cluster and the Diamonds got introduced; I get that they have their entire arc planned out but leaving the writing to individual storyboard artists feels like a hindrance. We're getting stuff like the Gems suddenly not understanding Steven when we've seen this to not be the case and the "Dewey Wins" episode muddling up what we're supposed to take from the Steven/Connie fight.
