Credit where due: the back half of this week, content has been really strong. Every day should be like this. O'Neal is back, everyone had to raise their game.

Theyโve gotten two all-time great WH random roles over two weekends, too.

A shout out to the "Here's what's on sale on Amazon today" posts that are showing up on a lot of sites now, with some of them not even attempting to even slightly disguise them as "here's what's on sale that vaguely relates to the theme of our site."

? No derogatory comments about other commenters unless they are engaging in active, Fatmanesque harassment campaigns. Iโd say themโs the rules, but itโs evidently still just something that annoys a bunch of us and hasnโt been formally added to the rules thread ( hereโs the rules thread discussion).

? The post immediately above mine. I am tired of beating the dead horse of "please don't complain about AVC people over here, it is bad to do. Fight them over there or hold your peace, or just Killfile them." Ah. Right. Sorry I didn't follow that. It does seem a bit like bad form, I know there are people who don't like me but I'd rather they take it up with me than call me an asshole elsewhere.

Or maybe we could create an official thread titled "AVC Members Who Suck" and just let people go hog-wild. I have been told that my dislike of this behavior is fusty. If โbeing a decent fucking human being who doesnโt talk about others behind their backsโ and โnot stirring up pointless dramaโ is fusty then I donโt see much point in even bothering with the pretense that this is a โcommunityโ anyway. Hey TI! Youโre your own biggest blunder.

Well to get this back on track, AVC's Biggest Blunder was letting Jesse Hassenger dunk on me in the Rilo Kiley comments yesterday.

There's probably no GJI I've ever wanted to read less than the one that just went up about Twitter ruining the innocence, somehow, of PBS's Arthur.

Everyone is very angry and very eager to make each other angry. I'm a pretty angry person myself, but goddamn, at a certain point the sheer rage that a lot of regulars exhibit just gets exhausting.
Some comments sections are draining to read.

Some comments sections are draining to read. I cooled it on reading boingboing because the content went from 'excellent and unique' to 'just okay', but the goddamn comment section just became Argue Fest Central. I don't know if the term concern-troll was invented there, but it's the place to find them.

Has anyone learned yet why there was no Pop Culture Weekend this week? Part of me wonders whether they've gone back to Sunday midnight as a lot of people had originally hoped, but that's a very optimistic part.

Similar to when Trump first rode the escalator into the primaries, I used to chuckle at people complaining about Disqus. In both cases, I ain't laughin' anymore.
My latest gripe, when I go to check my notifications if someone has commented on something I said I can no longer reply to them or upvote them directly but have to go back to the article and find the comment. I spent 40 minutes the other day wading through several thousand comments so I could make a pun. Now I'm just figuring its not worth it and just leaving peoples comments un-answered and un-upvoted. My guess is they won't notice, but it kinda ruins the back and forth I so used to enjoy over there. Somewhat related, but also a separate complaint: I'm by no means an old timer over there, but damn if it doesn't feel like the old neighborhood has been gentrified and turned into Disney Store / Bubba Gump version of Times Square.

Yeah, my "can't see any notifications" phase lasted what, 10 days? and she was helpful in letting me know a fix was coming. I am now also on the "can't upvote or comment from my notifications" phase, but I hope that gets fixed soon.

What I was told to do for that phase is start a post on the Discuss Disqus board with my info. I can dig up a link to the one I started if you want, since you could maybe just piggyback off of mine.
