Taking down episodes with blackface - or indeed general prejudice with which we are uncomfortable, such as the Fawlty Towers "The Germans" episode - is wrong. I'm disheartened to see than 30 Rock has now gone down this route. I understand the impulse, because yeah people shouldn't have been making comedies with blackface in the 21st century but pretending it didn't exist isn't helping anyone. I fully support putting up content warnings or some kind of contextual statement but simply deleting history as if it never happened is simply wrong. Those who delete historical fact for present convenience are never on the right side of the argument. Far better to own up to making mistakes, examine what allowed them to happen in the first place and committing to the idea of not letting those circumstances occur again than simply saying, "oops, did a whoopsie!", hitting the delete key and backing into the hedge, Homer style.

I agree completely, but I also kind of assume this is temporary until the current furor lessens. Last year the Simpsons pulled their Michael Jackson episode and vowed it would never be available again in any form, but then quietly slipped it back into their TV re-run cycle (I don't know whether or not it's part of the full series digital package though). Very different issue (opposite, technically . . . ), but there is precedent.

Star Vs. the Forces of Evil was better than Adventure Time As are Gravity Falls and Steven Universe. Never really got why people enjoyed Adventure Time so much.

Steven Universe wouldn't exist without Adventure Time. Actually, I'm not sure how many of the 2010s ostensibly-kids'-shows-actually-meant-for-adults-with-tumblrs would exist if not for Adventure Time.

And yet all of those shows are still better than Adventure Time.

Simpsons would have better if, rather than having Homer as a blue-collar schmo, he had a masters degree in engineering and was a different sort, but still very funny, kind of schmo. Lemur, what is the highest level of education attained by the Bus Man in this hypothetical scenario?

There is no population of people in greater need of being shown the "That's the joke," Simpsnos meme than the 70% of Parks fans whose biggest problem with the show was that people were mean to Jerry.

I like Mark Brendanowicz more than Tom Haverford. And it's not because I like Mark Brendanowicz, because I don't, particularly.

Not having watched Parks in many years, I sort of wonder Mike Schur's shows all have a character who's introduced in the first season as a sort of every(wo)man disillusioned with the morass of city government/the NYPD/heaven as an institution, and who slowly declines in relevance as the show becomes more and more of an implausibly optimistic hangout comedy until they're finally ejected from the show entirely. This is totally Gina's deal on Nine-Nine, but I'm blanking on who this could be on The Good Place.

Y’all I never liked Scully & Mulder as a couple, and I was so mad when they made it actual canon. They have excellent chemistry, but IMO it’s not sexual chemistry.

But that's the only possible relationship between a male and a female! With the possible exception of daughters, the only purpose female characters have is to eventually have sex with the male character, or die because they can't have sex with the male character.

Re-watching GOT and, you know, King's Landing was shown to be and was historically mentioned to be pretty much the worst place in Westeros with the absolute worst people. So I really don't care about what happened with the city near the end of the series. In fact, I am more or less in favor of it.

"The National Anthem", the very first episode of Black Mirror (yes, the one with the pig) is underrated, and one of its most thought-provoking. The series does some nice things with technology-based "what ifs" (I think "The Entire History of You" is one of its best), but another big strand, at least early on, is mass media and public reaction to it (see also the very good "White Bear" episode) and this is a clever exploration of that.
