This seems to have worked. I'm glad I scrolled through a few pages of the AVC last night looking for a Bojack Horseman review, otherwise I wouldn't have seen it at all. From the comments on that article: Uh, did anyone hear about this from any official AVC source? So I linked up my account to my AVC-related Twitter, and I got this "accept authorization" spiel: GROSS. But I figure I hardly ever use that account. I hope it doesn't start following randos and spamming folks. I have infinite notifications. |

Now that I have Claimed My Legacy, does the Kinja dashboard show everything from AVC in chronological order so I don't have to visit that shithole of a front page?

The insanely slow loading of old comments that makes it impossible to follow current conversations brought up an old exchange I had with Miss Anthropy, which made me sad in addition to all the other problems. If their intent with the comment migration was to depress us about what the site used to be and no longer is, it's working marvelously.

So I tried merging with my burner account and it appears to have worked? I too have infinite notifications and clicking on show all takes me to a server error page.
Edit: And, looking at my profile, it says I have no posts. So.

Urrrggghh, I made the mistake of clicking on an article about ESPN and Trump, not realizing it was cross-posted from Deadspin. We may complain about being in the grays, but wow, there is a good reason they filter those comments out.

I guess the one "good" thing about Kinja is that it's easier to read the entire comments section on any given article now because there are so few of them.

The first (for whatever Kinja-spawned reason) comment on the Juggalo March article is some guy talking about how much "the liberal left" are associated with clowns, and then later crowing about how he loves to invade "liberal safe spaces" and fling shit around. I'm fascinated and disgusted simultaneously. |

I finally caught it; it's at the very bottom of the front page. 3 hours old, 103 comments, and probably 80 of them are lamenting how horrible Kinja/the new format is. Our own Gumbercules' Jugband Christmas is in there and I think this is the first time I've actually seen the happy-go-lucky otter mad about something. It was . . . unsettling. |

I merged my long-dormant legacy account with my Google account, but for the past couple of weeks I've been using a burner account that I had merged with my Disqus account. I don't want to merge with any more of my social media accounts, so maybe I'll just let my legacy gimmick account die and replace it with a burner account.

Everytime I think Kinja isnβt user hostile, it gives me a new reason to reconsider. Itβs surprising just how bad it is in several critical ways for any site that isnβt making clickbait their core trade and the total opposite of the content AVC did make.

Two weeks ago I wrote to Kinja support asking about logging in without a link to social media. They didn't seem to understand that I was already out of the grays. Then they sent a final reply, "OK, fixed". Uh, no? Eh, a little while longer and I won't care anyway.
