Ages ago Lord Lucan (maybe it will work?) linked to YSL’s abode in Morocco, designed by Bill Willis, with lots of pictures of his Moroccan stuff in this article. I’ve fantasized about doing some kind of North-African themed stuff but I can’t even get anything down solidly even on the drawing board. I do have a nice 19th-century North African vase (with a an old cursive note on the bottom saying “ Like in the British Museum”—who knows what that means but it is cool).

I like that the article has the description of the tunnels going into the "mountain" while the home is in Eastern Kansas. Not sure anything in Kansas could charitably be called a "mountain." Hill is even stretching it.

I expected to see a really expensive custom gaming table in that basement, for some righteous D&D sessions.

There are things I love about it but the velour looking carpet is a dealbreaker.

Ok I love so many things about this little house, but my god, there are only a few design elements that make me madder than "tile which is meant to look like wood". NO.

I agree that everything on this list needs to go except open floor plans. I don't mind them as long as they're not TOO open, but I do prefer to have a few more walls than most open floor plans offer.

I actually feel like our house is the right amount of 'open' though occasionally I think the pony wall should come down.

I like glass furniture, especially the glass shelving we have (and we used to have a small glass table, which yes, did break), although I can imagine that it's very easy to overdo.

I don’t get their objection to plastic chairs at all. They don’t say whimsy to me at all—playfulness in some cases, maybe, but not whimsy. Whimsy’s little elves hopping around. Most of the time they’re more neutral than anything else, and neutral can be a very good thing.
Also I’m surprised buzzfeed still starts articles with a barrage of reaction gifs. I guess they’re resigned to eternal cheuginess.

That IS a cool pool, though, and I usually hate the "design" of most pools. But yeah, I want to see more of the interior. Lovely house!

This is a house for sale in Chicago. Do I want to know what these people are doing in their living room? I'm picturing a cult. Or fundies. So, a cult.

Yeah I’m getting evangelical with a whiff of prepper. Not a bad house although some of the finishes look a bit cheap for the price.

I appreciate a kitchen island as much as anyone but what is the hgtv obsession with huge islands? My in-laws have a big one and it just creates bottlenecks between the fridge and the oven and the sink.
