As a companion to the Stuff I Keep Hearing About That I’m Completely In the Dark About thread, I think we need a thread for stuff that we deliberately avoid, for one reason or another.
My first nomination: the local (?) or at least locally ubiquitous band G. Love & Special Sauce. For literally 20 years I’ve been reading/hearing about this band which always seems to be gigging in Chicago. I assume from their stupid name and popularity on the north side that they’re some sort of Dave Matthews-lite jambaroo. That’s the only thing that can explain their longevity, since there’s always an audience for horseshit.

I am boycotting all standalone Ant-Man films until they change the character's name to "Ant-Controlling Size-Change Man", because just calling him Ant-Man is false advertising.
I refuse to watch It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. 1) That name is also false advertising. 2) There are like 38 seasons of it. 3) No. 4) FX's advertisements for it are constant and overwhelming; if Naomi Klein had started her career 20 years later, she'd have probably spent half of No Logo talking about how fucking much it sucks looking at the advertisements for that show, and she would have been so busy talking about how awful FX's ad campaigns are that she would probably have forgotten to put in all the stuff about how capitalism is bad.. 5) Charlie Day. 6) Most of the other characters.

I like "It's Always Sunny..." but I'm upvoting for participation.

*hangs head*
I used to like G. Love (a Philly band through and through), and Jamiroquai, and the Beastie Boys, and Soul Coughing, and that first Beck album, etc - they all blended together into this tounge-in-cheek white-nerd skate-punk soul music that was the soundtrack of my 20s .... which, let's not be coy, were 25 years ago. G. Love were the worst of them: squonky, off-key, lazy, and super-stoned - just like me and all my friends. I can't believe they're still playing in public.

I still love Soul Coughing and Always Sunny, but I’ve purposely avoided AVC darlings Community (due to rabid fanbase) and Brooklyn 99 (due to Andy Samberg).

I whole-heartedly endorse Community prior to the departure of Donald Glover and Brooklyn 99.

Truly, I liked Stuff I Keep Hearing About That I’m Completely In the Dark About thread more before it became Invitation for You to Explain This Thing I am Obviously Not Interested In thread, which it did fairly immediately. Off the top of my head:
children's entertainment from ~2002 onward video games less than 12 years old shows on Netflix the NBA, NHL, MLS

Any hour-drama lasting longer than 4 seasons that also has that old, standard 22 episodes per season.
Ain't got time for that.

Most sitcoms including critically acclaimed ones. I like the Good Place, but that one benefited from coming to Netflix here pretty quickly after its first season, which is pretty serialized. For pretty much everything else though, its like the world is basically telling me to invest hours of my time just to catch up and understand a few online memes. ayatollahcm called it on the multi-series hour-long dramas. That's the truth right there. Police, Medical and legal procedurals. I don't care how you try to update the concept, if they involve doctors or lawyers or cops, that's a hard pass*. Anime. Its not that I am a snob (I'm not, I swear) or that I hate weebs (guilty). 98% is just formulaic and/or problematic garbage and I ain't got time to search through that for the 2% that is actually good. * The Wire, The Shield, and Hannibal are given a pass for actually being good.

I agree but don't mind it if all those episodes are self-contained things that do not require me to watch every single episode in the order that they were released. The idea that everything has to be serialized can go die in an alleyway.

Fire Emblem is the biggest thing that comes to mind. Most things I'll read the wiki or tvtropes, maybe watch some YT summary, just to get the jist of things, but for FE my brain breaks and I cannot even.
Also it does not help that I have an aversion to castles, the destroyers of pacing, and just the whole 'ye olde medieval' aesthetic.

Coincidentally, I have managed to get this far in life without knowing who the Dave Matthews Band are - don't know any of their songs, don't know what they sounded like.

I don't think I've ever seen an entire episode of any of the Star Treks other than the original series (and not even very many of those). I'm not going out of my way to be contrarian or anything, they just didn't interest me that much when they were on, and now I'm so far behind it would take me forever to take them in. I have seen several of the movies though. Including the one where they save whales with transparent aluminum.

While I’m at it, I might as well add ‘any and all jam bands’ since this is arguably the least essential music genre ever created.

Video games. I have to admit that for a long time I stubbornly avoided Parks and Rec, based on.... I don't even know what. One of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. Also, Trurl, I have actually been to a Dave Matthews concert and I still couldn't name or hum a single Dave Matthews song.

Not exactly popular I guess, but Farscape. I like science fiction, I like comedy, I like Muppets, and everyone I know who also likes those things and Star Wars and Star Trek and Stargate and any of the other Stars tells me that I will like Farscape too. But my friends who are the biggest Farscape fans are, how shall I put it, "insufferably twee", and I just don't think I'll like it as much as I'm expected to.
I also already made this exact same mistake with Firefly.
