I guess the bigger shows really bring out those who cannot be the slightest bit critical of something they love. Every episode has to be an A and the fans will do mental backflips justifying any writing choice. As others have said it is a shame, I was initially drawn to the AV Club because it felt like people were having real discussions and conversations about shows my friends didn't necessarily watch. Whilst it's fun to geek out together when shows have an amazing episode or even amazing moments I've little desire to converse with sycophants.

While fans who refuse to acknowledge that a show has problems are annoying, so is the opposite: people who criticize events that haven't even happened in the show yet. GoT has plenty of those.

Fair point, although the majority of complains about future events this season were book readers saying "oh god, they're gonna rape Sansa, that sucks, I don't want to see that".

Well we finally got Tyrion and Daenerys in a conversation, which is all I ever wanted from his book five arc.

Ugh. Way to double down on the "rape/potential rape as motivation for a dude" thing, show.

D&D might not be the best writers in the world, but you've got to give them credit for plowing right through GRRM's supposed "Meereneese knot."

She's still there, but she and Tyrion have finally met face-to-face, which is the culmination of about 50 book plots and 5000+ pages (a good fifth of those being "AWHURR DO WHURRRES GURRR??").

Excepting maybe the Tyrells, everybody else seems to be from the "show up, see what happens, get killed horribly" school of Throne Games.

Step 1: Unchain Dragon Step 2: Get Eaten Step 3: ... Step 4: Profit!
Like what were they planning on doing with a massive dragon and only 3 men? "Hey, we'll get into the dragon dome, then just wing it I guess. That one kinda listened to his mother that one time, so I'm sure I could control one that's never seen me before. I've got this sweet whip and everything"

So this week on Thronecast the fan guest actually talks about the Sansa rape (as I noted it doesn't get referenced last week); and also briefly the season three consensual sex to rape thing; even going back to Danerys/Drogo - deep cut for someone who admits she hasn't read the books; she's getting this information from reading fan websites. It is of course the fan guest who says this; not the two hosts or the castmember guest (this week, Tommen.) They soon pivot to Ser Pounce tweeting a question for Tommen.

I knew that, but somehow I was mixing up Quentyn Martell with young Griff.

Alternate episode title: Fat Pink Mast. I had to pause that scene several times to convince myself to continue watching just because I kept getting PTSD flashbacks to reading that part of the book.
Also, how many years did it take Tyrion to get to that fireworks factory?
But seriously, when Myrcella said she's been in Dorne for years I realized that I have no idea how much time has passed in-universe. Are the kids legally adults yet?

I think Myrcella has been in Dorne for two years now, though I doubt that counts as "years".

That was actually my favourite part of that god damn book. I laughed my ass off when that lumpy turd got dragoned.

Lone Locust of the Apocalypse I think two years probably counts as years if you are a teenager, especially one who feels their entire life changed two years ago and are trying to explain that to your uncle.

Best episode of the season by a mile, best episode since "The Lion and the Rose" (S4E2), arguably top 5 of the series. Calling the Olly stuff unsubtle would be an understatement, but otherwise, just a fantastic episode.
Side note: if Ramsay takes out the Mannis with 20 dudes, I rescind everything I just said 20 times.

I don't know, it is always cool to see a small strike force succeed against a superior enemy, but it is Ramsay, so it would also be cool for him to crash and burn in a spectacular fashion just to wipe that smirk off his face. I wonder how Ramsay would hold out against Melisandre... there is a meet-up I did not know I wanted until now.

Anyone else distracted by Dany clearly wearing a modern part-lace bra under her dress in the first Tyrion scene? (Not that I especially stare at her tits... but I do notice when historic-ish shows fuck up like that. You should have heard me moaning about Agent Carter's faux-seam stockings.)
And I'm glad we didn't spend too long building up Arya's career as a seller

I dunno I feel 'ish' is the key word there - with all the high tech wizbangery in the first Captain America movie improved stocking technology is probably doable, for example. That'd be unforgivable on Wolf Hall, mind...

Unless Howard Stark created looms that allowed stockings to be made seamless nearly 20 years ahead of time and then went on to create a fashion for fake seams to replace the ones production dictated... ...well, I wouldn't put it past him, actually.
