This was only updated three days ago and yet I couldn't find it. Silly me. Would you like me to merge your question onto this thread? Sure, I don't need to duplicate things too much

First off, I can't find the Suave Sea Minerals texturizing spray I was using anymore - they seem to be phasing that line out, which bums me out. Does anyone have any recommendations for an inexpensive texturizing spray I can use to create loose/beachy waves? John Frieda makes a great texturizing sea salt spray for beachy, loose waves. I don't think it cost me more than $10? And I definitely found it at a drugstore, so I know it isn't hard to get. I haven't had the chance to use a lot of it since I cut my hair off last year (it was past my shoulders in January 2015 and I had to get rid of it because it was so dry and damaged - I'm growing it back out again with much more attention to deep conditioners and heat protection) but I'm pleased with the results, as the spray doesn't make my hair sticky or heavy.

That stuff is amazing, seriously. And as others have recommended in this thread, the biggest help I've found for waves is just letting my hair dry naturally. Apparently my hair is naturally wavy, I just have to let it be instead of trying to comb it out immediately as it dries.

Yeah, I've discovered my hair has some wave to it too when left to its own devices, but it needs a little help to stay more sleek/beachy as opposed to just poofy-frizzy. (I tried just scrunching it post-shower and letting it dry without extra product... I looked deranged.) So I'll definitely try the John Frieda stuff. Thanks!

Beauty Bakerie! The top one is Cranberry Stiletto and the bottom one is Raspberry Tiramisu. I absolutely love the formula: not too thin or too thick, not streaky, easy to build layers on without it getting cakey, and the best part of all - when it dries, itβs virtually smudge-proof, with very little transfer onto cups and napkins and such. I had to fight to take it off last night after 13 hours of wear! Now, I did have to touch it up a smidge in the center after lunch yesterday, but that was all. No feathering, no caking, no dehydration. This is yesterday - Cranberry Stiletto: And this is today - Raspberry Tiramisu

Very nice! Love those colors! Thank you! I'm wearing the Cranberry Stiletto again today and it barely rubbed off at all while I was demolishing a pizza from &pizza. (Single serving sizes. Delicious. Mmmm.) I am honestly impressed as hell.

Decided to mix up some OCCs today, got a nice dark violet-y blue. And stained the back of my hand mixing them up. blot photo: (the color on the photo isn't quite right but it's close)

I had OCC lip tar about five or six years ago and I loved the concept of it, but I hated the consistency. It was like lip gloss, really heavy and sticky, and no matter what I did it never stopped feathering and bleeding until I looked like someone's gramma playing the nickel slots. How do you get it to work?

I got some of the John Frieda sea salt spray via Amazon (I didn't find it in a too-quick search at Target and was already ordering some other stuff). It smells so great! And seems to work a little better than the Suave stuff; at least, it's a lot less crunchy than that was. The wave effect is pretty similar, in a good way. I dig it.

It was like lip gloss, really heavy and sticky, and no matter what I did it never stopped feathering and bleeding until I looked like someone's gramma playing the nickel slots. How do you get it to work? You are correct, they are the most annoying to work with. I went a little crazy last year (*looks at list* okay a LOT crazy) when Sephora was clearing out their OCC stuff because I still love the colors, so damn it I'm going to make them work. milanicosmetics.com/Anti-Feathering-Lipliner.htmlThis lipliner has been a godsend for me. It's so cheap, too. Milani products go on sale all the time at the drugstore. Besides that, use a lip brush (they include one with every tube), use a TINY bit of product, blot after each layer, and slowly build it up in opacity. Sometimes if they're not quite the matte consistency I want, I'll set them after with some powder. The blue lip lasted through some buttered toast, two cups of tea, and a can of Diet Coke. There were definitely blue smudges left on my teacup, but my lips still looked okay. Also the next morning I had to wear an opaque MLBB color because it looked like I had been punched in the mouth. But also I've found that their metallic versions tend to stay put a bit better. Authentic and Manhunter I have found have good consistency if you can pull off bronzey or orangey colors. Role Play, also lovely. So yeah, my favorite straight-out-of-the-tube colors are probably: Authentic, Role Play, Manhunter, Queen, Vintage... I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting some. I need to do more mixing, it's fun. My least favorites: Lovecraft and Yaoi (gritty glitter, although I'll still sometimes wear Yaoi because it's hilariously named), Super NSFW (mine separated and I was never able to get the consistency back), Black Dahlia and Strumpet (such a pity, gorgeous colors but I was never able to contain them). The one lip tar I'm still coveting (and which I was kind of attempting to recreate by mixing) is Technopagan. JESUS it's pretty.

@satelliteskynet The best thing you can do for highlights is to protect them from heat damage and sun damage. I don't know how often you wash your hair, but I've found that with dyed hair, it's best to take the less-is-more approach. (Currently, I wash mine 3-4x a week, but only because it's still relatively short; once my hair gets shoulder-length, I'll drop that to 2-3x a week.) If you blow-dry or otherwise heat style your hair, definitely put in some kind of leave-in conditioner or serum; a lot of them have built-in UV protection already. There are also shampoo/conditioner systems that have a bit of tint to them so they deposit a little color in your hair, but YMMV on whether you like that idea or not.

Milani and Kiko Milano are my favorite cheap brands by far. Nothing else flatters my skin tone the way they do. I am in desperate need of a haircut and will probably go in some time this week. I am thinking of getting highlights on a separate trip. My hair has gotten steadily darker over the years, and is now practically black. I like black hair, but I think a little balayage action would give me that beachy feeling I have been missing all these years. NOT blonde, though. Probably a warm brown verging on auburn. And I'm hoping that whoever ends up doing it can actually blend the color in rather than doing the ombrΓ© look. OmbrΓ© just looks like roots growing out and I don't get why it is a thing. Also, if I can't find any colors I like, I will cheap out and do the henna thing. This concludes the SatHair talk. Please post highlight maintenance tips below as I am a newb. Yes, I regularly have highlights put in. My stylist has told me to only wash my hair about 3 times per week. And yes, definitely yes to the UV protection. Your comment about the ombre look really made me laugh. My hair holds color really well, and my stylist uses a very long lasting color. One time I just didn't have the money to get the highlights redone for a few months after when it needed to be redone. My roots started growing out, but the color was still pretty strong at the end of my hair. I was working retail at this time. A regular customer came in who hadn't been in for several months. She was a stylist. She complemented me on the perfect ombre look and told me to tell my stylist that it was very well done.

Disney has this great line of nail polish at the parks (I know, right? - there's other makeup, but I don't wear much eyeshadow or lipgloss, so nails it is) and my husband's been buying me themed four packs of mini bottles for awhile now. Between our anniversary, Christmas and my birthday I got four in the last six months, and my nail polish organizer is about full. (I should probably chuck some of my old-old bottles, which are getting crusty and goopy.)
So I've been trying to do my nails more regularly, and the colors are just FUN ... the Minnie collection has neon pink, orange and yellow with a polka dot confetti top coat; right now I have one from the Tinkerbell collection that's a lovely cornflower blue with aqua sparklies.

The Stuffingtacular She-Hulk Absolutely gorgeous pictures!! Is that a matte finish? I've been looking for a good matte finish lip cream or lipstick, I looked at a few on Sephora but really can't afford to spend over $20 on a single makeup item. Sephora has their own matte lipstain at around $14 and I've liked their brand in the past but I'll take suggestions.

I should tell you that they're $20 a pop, though. I've heard excellent things about Colourpop and Sephora's brand matte liquid lipsticks, FYI. Colourpop only runs about $6 per lippie, so if you hate it, no harm, no foul.

They're not as matte as the Beauty Bakerie ones, but for bargain mattes I've actually had decent results with Wet n Wild Megalast. The packaging makes it easy to damage the product and they're cut stupidlyβflat top instead of bullet. For me I have to use a lip brush to get the line right. They're a little drying, but for $1, I'll take it. (I have them in Red Velvet and Cherry Picking.)

I'm devoted to MAC's matte lipsticks, especially the reds (I wear Chili or Russian Red almost every day.) I apply it straight from the tube, no liner, then smear it with my finger. It stays put for hours, and isn't dry. And $15 isn't bad for a great lipstick. I also love the Cremesheens, which have a bit of shine. I wear a layer of NARS Dolce Vita Velvet Matte pencil over them, for a softer finish and a warm, rosy-coral hue. (I will never cease singing its praises.) God, I'd use every single NARS Velvet Matte product if I only could. My sister got the tinted sunscreen; she doesn't have great skin but it makes her glow.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies! I think I'm going to try Colourpop first, since it's the cheapest and I don't have much of a makeup budget. They also have a LOT of colors to choose from. But I have all of these to refer back to should I find myself with a little more expendable income one of these months.
On another note, I miss Benefit's Georgia powder sooooo much. Something about that shade of peach made my skin glow. I used it all over my whole face and it always made me look alive and awake even after late nights with no sleep. It breaks my heart that they discontinued it. I'll never get over it.

Shit, you guys. Shiiiiiiiiiit. I used this stuff from Paula's Choice today and six hours later there's only the faintest bit of shine on my nose, instead of my entire face being an oil slick. You're supposed to put it on over your foundation, but I did that yesterday and it fucked up my mineral powder, so today I put it on after my primer and wow. I'm so impressed. Best $23 I ever spent, and I didn't even need a lot to cover my whole face!

Is there any way to save gloopy nail polish? Or am I doomed to never get the last third or so of my sparkly grey polish out?

Hey, Pedantic Editor Type! I don't know if you got an email, but this weekend Everyday Minerals is offering their matte foundations for $8 each. I just bought two last month and haven't cracked them open yet, but hey - you can't really have too many backups, can you? I'm gonna stock up and keep one at work with a new brush for touch-ups.

That said, the blending on the eye makeup. Holy shit. And that eyeliner. I did my best to pay attention to technique, but it's not like I could watch exactly what he was doing. The eye makeup is fantastic! Wow! I've had glasses since I was 10, so I never learned how to do eye makeup. I am so blind that once I take my glasses off I can't see a thing. Can't quite figure out how to do it with my glasses on.

Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Auburn (what Iβve been using) vs. Beauty Bakerie BROWnie Waterproof Eyebrow Gel in Auburn. And my Wonder Woman makeup from Walgreens! The eyeshadows are actually really quite pretty and have a bit of shimmer. I wore the lipstick yesterday and it's a lovely blue-toned classic red and quite matte without being drying. It transferred like hell, but hey. It was three dollars.

I remembered why I've kept my hair short for so long, aside from it suiting me so well: Once it gets earlobe-length, it drives me INSANE.
It's too short to put up. I have so much hair that if I want to leave it down I have to have a good cut. I hate styling my hair, the most I want to do is pin up my bangs or put a roller in and let it air dry. Since the weather warmed up I've been wearing scarves as headbands every day, to keep it out of my face and off my neck (and to absorb sweat while working).
I will persevere, tho. I want to get it at least shoulder-length. It's so thick and shiny! I WANT MORE.
