Does anyone have any experience with lipstains? Specifically Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain or MIlk Makeup Oil Lip Stain, but really, any? I've been using Revlon Colorstay lipstick for a few months and love it, despite how drying it is, and am considering looking at stains now. I have no experience using them and could use some advice. I like lipstains too but always find them too drying. I've been using my favorite dark red Wet & Wild cheapo lipstick, dabbing it on with my finger til it's the richness of color that I want and then applying chapstick. I find this actually works like a stain and lasts a few hours. If you have a heavily pigmented lipstick that's not too oily that may work for you. I seem to remember Stila having a good lipstain but I don't have a high-end makeup budget these days so I DIY.

I hardly ever wear lipstick/gloss/stain/whatever and have suddenly realized I have at least four different full-size samples I keep acquiring - my MIL gives it to me, I get it through Target beauty boxes (LOVE those, btw)... I feel like I need to start wearing it now. Instead of just lip balm, which I'm prone to chewing off, which is why I don't really wear lipstick.

Ok I’m currently in the midst of my once-every-two-years-or-so beauty product interest phase, which generally translates into “ get me a skincare regimen”. So I am on the lookout for a good, cheap eye cream & maybe different moisturizer? idk Under $20 would be good; under $15, even better. My skin is not particularly sensitive, nor prone to breakouts; I’ve been known to just slap on straight vitamin E or coconut oil, with no ill-effects. I’ve been using a Noxema scrub & micellar water as a (mostly) daily cleanser - I started the micellar water about a month ago & have noticed no real difference, & I just like the way a scrub feels. And then I kinda use whatever as moisturizer- I’ve been using these tiny jars of Pond’s Rejuveness, cause they were like a buck and a half at Big Lots & they last forever & it absorbs quickly for me, but I just bought a store-brand collagen moisturizer. That one’s kinda heavy, which I’m fine with if I’m not putting on makeup. I’ve heard good reviews of Baebody Retinol for undereyes, which is the high end of the $$ scale for me, or Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration. I would LOVE to find something that’ll even touch my dark circles; they’re not super-dark, just tenacious. So bring unto me your recommendations, suggestions, & warnings! Also anyone done the jade roller thing? I kinda just think they’re cute, but don’t necessarily want to spend money on one if it’s pointless.

So I've been using Olay Regenerist for a few years and have been pretty happy with it. You only need a tiny bit and they're generally under $20 (mine is around $19 and lasts a few months). I haven't used their undereye cream but overall my skin is brighter and more even. I'd recommend something with AHA for sure. Also if you wear makeup a good concealer can do wonders

Resurrecting this old-ass thread to report that I have to change makeup brands. I've been using Everyday Minerals for like 19 years and really liked it, but sadly, they are out of business. My remaining supply of mineral foundation powder will not last more than a few more months, so I figure now is the time to start experimenting a bit before I'm totally out.
BareMinerals is the obvious choice, but their stuff costs twice as much as EM did. And I am getting a bit older; while I think my skin still looks great, I'm going to try makeup made for (sigh) "mature skin". I just ordered primer, foundation and concealer from Laura Geller; they have free returns, which helps me feel more confident about picking a shade from the internet.
I don't really need the primer - I've been using ELF primer for years and it's cheap and great - but I figure it all works together so we'll give it a whirl and mix and match.

Everyday Minerals is out of business? Fuck. I still have time before I need to resupply my powder foundation, but ugh. I'm really sad to learn this.
I was using BareMinerals before that, but I switched to Everyday Minerals because their lightest colors match my skin tone better and never oxidize on me.

And I went to stock up before they closed, but they were out of my shade! They had the best prices and range of shades. Sigh.

I might brave Sephora at Kohl's this weekend to see if I can look at some shades in person. I adamantly do not like liquid foundation and also refuse any sort of BB cream, so I know that limits my options. I was planning on going to a Latin American grocery store in that area anyway because I want some agua fresca mix and I refuse to pay stupid online prices for it. I'm bummed, but glad you said something because I would have been so confused next time I wanted to buy a refill at EM!

So, after some consideration and seeing they had generous return policies, I am trying out Laura Geller makeup - not to be confused with Laura Mercier. LG is marketed toward "mature skin" and I don't think I'm THAT old, but well, here we are.
I bought "spackle" primer in clear original (kinda hate that it's called spackle), concealer in porcelain/light and baked & brighten foundation in Fair. I will note that I found their foundation color notes confusing - they mention both "Rosy" and "Warm" undertones as being different things, whereas I have decidedly cool undertones. I sent them a photo and they recommended Fair.
Initial thoughts: the primer is a little gooey going on, not as smooth and silky as my ELF primer. But it has a lot of extra ingredients. Settles in pretty well though. The concealer is softer than I thought it would be, so I dabbed it on lightly with my fingertip - not sure if it is doing everything it promised, but it blended well.
The foundation, I used a brush on and lightly swept across per instructions. It actually blended immediately - I was skeptical of the shade. A few sweeps and some blending later and I have pretty good light coverage. Interested to see how it all wears today and will report back.

OK, so I wore that makeup all day Friday and I'm trying it again today. A few more thoughts...
The shade looks good on me; the one thing I'm realizing is that I relied on both creamy (e.l.f.) and powdered (EM) primer to help cut down on shine - my face tends to look/feel a little oily to me as the day goes on, especially in warmer weather. And right now I'm just wearing creamy primer + foundation with the LG. So the coverage is fine, but I'm already looking a little shiny to my eye. Might need to see if I can find a mattifying product for spring/summer to use once I run out of EM.

A few more thoughts on the Laura Geller…
I don’t like the primer. It’s more like a lotion compare with the ELF which feels nice and smooth and like it evens out my skin texture. I’ll use up what I have but probably not buy more. I also bought ELF HD powder which works great to finish things and keep my skin matte.
